About the Lantronix Spider
Spider, also known as the Spider KVM or by its SLS200 model number, replaces the long KVM cable runs and shared switch ports of traditional KVM with a small unit that connects straight to a server's VGA and keyboard/mouse ports. It measures 13.2 x 5.8 x 3.1 cm and weighs 185 g. Each server gets its own 1:1 non-blocked remote session, so adding a server means adding one Spider rather than a 16 or 32-port switch, and a single failed unit affects only one machine.
A hardware video encoder compresses VGA output up to 1600x1200 at 60 Hz, with automatic resolution detection and manual override for non-standard formats. Keyboard, mouse and video data are encrypted, and users authenticate locally or through RADIUS, LDAP or Active Directory. Virtual Media is supported. A second 10/100 Ethernet port uses SwitchPort+ to cascade units through one uplink, and an RS-232 port runs at up to 115,200 bps for serial console access or an external modem.
Spider is managed from a browser with no client software required, plus Telnet/SSH CLI and the optional SpiderView Windows utility. It can also sit on the local port of an existing analog KVM switch to add remote access, and fleets can be managed through Percepxion.

- Directory authentication
- RADIUS, LDAP and Active Directory authentication, IP source address filtering and user groups with permissions control who can reach each server.
- Zero-U footprint
- The unit draws 5 VDC at 1.6 A from the included power supply, dissipates 4 W and mounts with the provided Zero U kit.
How to choose the right Spider part number
All Spider SLS200 models are single-port KVM-over-IP units; they differ by keyboard/mouse connector and VGA cable length. SLS200PS20-02 has PS/2 and USB connectors with a 21-inch VGA cable, and SLS200PS2X0-02 is the same with a 58-inch cable. SLS200USB0-02 is USB-only with a 21-inch cable, and SLS200USBX0-02 is USB-only with a 58-inch cable. Choose USB-only for modern servers and the PS/2 versions for legacy hardware. ACC 520-0203-00 is the replacement 5 VDC 2 A power supply with four regional adapters.

What video resolution does the Lantronix Spider support?
Spider supports VESA standard VGA resolutions up to 1600x1200 at 60 Hz over an HD15 connector, on hardware revision G22+ and E21+. It detects resolution automatically and allows manual settings for non-standard video formats.
What is the difference between SLS200USB0-02 and SLS200PS20-02?
SLS200USB0-02 connects to the server with USB-only keyboard and mouse, while SLS200PS20-02 includes both PS/2 and USB connectors, selectable in software. Both have a 21-inch VGA cable; the X versions use a 58-inch cable.
Does Lantronix Spider need client software?
No. Spider is browser-based and requires no client software. Command-line access is available through Telnet or SSH, and SpiderView, an optional Windows client management utility, is included.
Can multiple Spider KVM units share one network connection?
Yes. Each Spider has a network port and a cascade port, both 10/100Base-T. Using SwitchPort+, units can be daisy-chained so all of them are reached through a single Ethernet connection.
