The Lantronix S4120 is a stand-alone 10 Gigabit Ethernet media converter for 10GBase-T copper to fiber. It provides an interface between 10GBase-T ports and a 10GBase-X open SFP+ slot. The converter operates at Layer 1, the physical layer, and passes data through at line speed. The open SFP+ slot supports a wide variety of Lantronix 10GE SFP+ fiber modules. The ION S4120 can be managed in-band over the fiber when it is linked back to a C4120 card installed in a managed ION chassis.

  • Converting 10GBase-T copper ports to 10GBase-X SFP+ fiber cabling
  • Layer 1 applications where line-speed pass-through is required
  • 100m Cat6a or higher UTP connections into 10 Gigabit Ethernet media conversion
