Overview
About the Lantronix LM80
The LM80 gives network teams an independent path into routers, switches, firewalls and managed power at small sites when the production network is down. Lantronix describes the LM-Series as the only state-aware console servers: an expert system that uses rules-based AI to recover and mitigate infrastructure problems automatically. The LM80 (also written LM-80) brings that LMOS software to a 1RU, 10-inch-wide chassis sized for branch racks.
Each unit has 4, 6 or 8 fixed RS-232 serial ports, two 10/100/1000BASE-T Ethernet interfaces with failover, one SFP port, an RS-232 console port and USB-A and USB-C ports. Storage is a 256 GB NVMe drive with TCG Opal 2.0 and 256-bit AES encryption. One option slot accepts LTE Cat 4, HSPA+, V.92 dial-up, RS-232 or Fiber-E cards, and an Iridium modem kit provides LEO satellite out-of-band links. FIPS 140-2 Level 2 is available.
Beyond serial consoles, the LM80 manages virtual environments and SD-WAN deployments through virtual ports and port forwarding. Solution features include ROMmon recovery, configuration rollback, zero-touch deployment and out-of-band baseboard management. Units are managed from the CLI or from Lantronix Control Center, which applies automated actions across a deployment without scripting and produces compliance reports.
Key capabilities
- Automated recovery with LMOS
- Rules-based automation handles ROMmon recovery and configuration rollback on connected devices, recovering infrastructure without waiting for an engineer to connect.

- One option slot takes LTE Cat 4 modems for AT&T, Verizon, EU/UK/AUS/NZ or global use, plus HSPA+, V.92 dial-up and fiber cards.
- Iridium satellite option
- The LEO-500 Iridium modem kit provides out-of-band access at sites with no usable cellular or wired connection.
- Encrypted onboard storage
- A 256 GB NVMe drive with TCG Opal 2.0 and 256-bit AES encryption holds logs and configurations; FIPS 140-2 Level 2 is available.
- Small-site form factor
- The 1RU chassis measures 254 mm wide by 163 mm deep, weighs 2 kg and runs on a 30 W internal 100-240 VAC supply.
How to choose the right LM80 part number
LM80 base models differ only in serial port count: 80-4S-NNN-NAA has 4 RS-232 ports, 80-6S-NNN-NAA has 6 and 80-8S-NNN-NAA has 8. All include two Gigabit Ethernet ports, an SFP port and LMS. Then add one option card for the out-of-band link: 88-CAT4ATTA (AT&T) or 88-CAT4VA (Verizon) for US LTE, 88-CAT4EUA for EU/UK/AUS/NZ, 88-CAT4GLOBAL elsewhere, 88-V92A for dial-up, or 88-FIBERMMA/88-FIBERMSA for multimode or single-mode fiber. Accessories include the 61-5010-01 temperature/humidity sensor and USB-CAA console adapter.

LM80 FAQ
What is the difference between the LM80 and LM83X?
Both run the same LMOS software for network management automation. The LM80 is the compact version for smaller deployments such as branch offices, with fixed RS-232 ports for up to eight devices and one modular option slot.
How many devices can the LM80 console server manage?
Up to eight devices over RS-232 serial, depending on the model: 4, 6 or 8 ports. It can also manage virtual environments and SD-WAN deployments through virtual ports and port forwarding.
Which cellular modems work with the LM80?
LTE Cat 4 internal modems are offered for AT&T (88-CAT4ATTA), Verizon (88-CAT4VA), EU/UK/AUS/NZ (88-CAT4EUA) and global use (88-CAT4GLOBAL), each with an external antenna. A penta-band HSPA+ modem (88-HSPA+A) is also listed.
What is the LM80 operating temperature and power?
The LM80 operates from 0°C to 45°C at 20% to 80% non-condensing humidity. It uses an internal universal 100-240 VAC, 50/60 Hz, 30 W power supply, which is included.
How is the LM80 managed centrally?
Access the LM80 and attached devices directly by CLI, or through Lantronix Control Center, which manages LM-Series units from one console, defines automated management actions without scripting and provides compliance reporting for the NOC.
