About the Lantronix SM12DP2XA
Most access switches are copper-first with a few fiber uplinks. The SM12DP2XA (also written SM-12DP2XA) reverses that: twelve 100/1000Base-X SFP slots terminate fiber runs from buildings, cabinets or floors, and two 1G/10GBase-X SFP+ slots carry the aggregated traffic upstream at 10 Gbps. Two 10/100/1000 RJ-45 ports cover local copper devices or management. Because the slots are dual speed, the same switch can take 100 Mbps and Gigabit optics.
The switch has a 68 Gbps backplane, a 32K MAC table and store-and-forward switching with 9K jumbo frames. Layer 2 features include 4K VLANs, Q-in-Q, LACP, MSTP, RSTP and Lantronix Rapid Ring, IGMP and MLD snooping, 8 QoS queues and IPv4/IPv6 static routing. Security covers RADIUS, TACACS+, 802.1X, L2/L3/L4 ACLs, DHCP snooping and IP Source Guard.
Power is 100-240 VAC on the front panel or 24/48 VDC, with 24 W maximum draw, and the switch operates from -20 to +60 C. It is 280 mm wide and 44 mm high, and 19 in. rack-mount brackets are included. Management is via web, CLI, SSH and SNMP v1/v2c/v3.
