Overview

About the Lantronix SM24TAT4XB

The SM24TAT4XB (sometimes written SM24-TAT4XB) is a 24-port access switch for networks that need 10 Gbps uplinks rather than Gigabit fiber. Twenty-four 10/100/1000Base-T ports support IEEE 802.3at PoE+ and 802.3af PoE, and four dual-speed 1G/10G SFP+ slots aggregate camera and access point traffic toward the core. A 128 Gbps backplane, store-and-forward switching and a 32K MAC table support the load.

An internal 100-240 VAC supply provides a 370 W PoE budget: 30 W on 12 ports simultaneously or 15.4 W on all 24. Full-load consumption with PoE is 450 W. The 8.31-inch depth and optional BRSM24-01 wall-mount bracket let the switch go into shallow cabinets or onto a wall where a deep rack switch will not fit. It operates from 0°C to 50°C.

Software closely follows the 48-port SM48TAT4XA-RP: RADIUS 802.1X and TACACS+, 512-entry ACLs, IPv4/IPv6 static routing, IEEE 1588v2 PTP transparent clock, G.8031/G.8032 protection, IGMP and MLD snooping, 8 QoS queues, Auto Power Reset, Always on PoE and the Device Management System with topology, floor and map views. LACP supports up to 26 trunk groups of four ports each, and jumbo frames reach 10,240 bytes.

Key capabilities

10G SFP+ uplinks
Four dual-speed 1G/10G SFP+ slots give a 24-port PoE+ closet up to 40 Gbps of uplink capacity, or connect at 1G where the core requires it.
370 W PoE+ budget
The internal supply powers 30 W PoE+ on 12 ports or 15.4 W PoE on all 24 ports at the same time.
Shallow, wall-mountable chassis
At 8.31 inches deep, the switch fits shallow cabinets, and the BRSM24-01 bracket allows wall mounting where no rack is available.
PTP and ring protection
IEEE 1588v2 PTP transparent clock and ITU-T G.8031/G.8032 protection support timing-sensitive and ring-based network designs.
Device Management System
DMS discovers connected devices and presents topology, floor and map views with traffic monitoring and network diagnostics for troubleshooting.

How to choose the right SM24TAT4XB part number

SM24TAT4XB is a single orderable model: 24 10/100/1000Base-T PoE+ ports, four empty 1G/10G SFP+ slots, an RS-232 console port and an internal AC supply. Add SFP or SFP+ transceivers to suit your uplink fiber, and the BRSM24-01 bracket for wall installation. For 48 ports and a PoE budget expandable to 1640 W with hot-swappable supplies, the SM48TAT4XA-RP shares the same software and guides. For 24 PoE+ ports with 1G SFP uplinks, see the SM24TAT2SA.

SM24TAT4XB FAQ

What is the PoE budget of the SM24TAT4XB?

The SM24TAT4XB has a maximum PoE budget of 370 W from its internal supply. It can deliver 30 W PoE+ to 12 ports or 15.4 W PoE to all 24 ports simultaneously.

What is the difference between the SM24TAT4XB and SM24TAT2SA?

Both have 24 Gigabit PoE+ ports and a 370 W budget. The SM24TAT4XB adds four 1G/10G SFP+ uplinks, a 128 Gbps backplane, 32K MAC table, PTP and static routing, while the SM24TAT2SA is smart managed with two 100/1000 SFP slots.

Can the SM24TAT4XB be wall mounted?

Yes. The BRSM24-01 is a wall-mount bracket made for the SM24TAT4XB. The switch measures 17.4 x 8.31 x 1.73 inches and weighs 3.8 kg, so its shallow depth also suits compact cabinets.

Does the SM24TAT4XB support Layer 3?

It supports IPv4 and IPv6 Layer 3 static routing alongside its Layer 2 feature set, including 802.1Q and private VLANs, LACP, MSTP, IGMP and MLD snooping, and DHCP server, client and relay.
