The UDS2100 adds two pieces of serial equipment to an Ethernet network. It supports software-selectable RS232, RS422 or RS485 serial interfaces and a 10Base-T/100Base-TX RJ45 Ethernet port. For serial tunneling, the UDS2100 encapsulates serial data into packets and transports it over Ethernet. Two UDS2100 device servers can be configured to talk to each other over the network to create virtual serial connections. The built-in web server enables configuration from a standard web browser. The unit can also be set up locally through its serial port or remotely using Telnet, and DeviceInstaller configuration software supports IP assignment, custom web pages, device queries and firmware upgrades. This UD2100001-01 configuration is the RoHS UDS2100 two-port 10/100 device server with US domestic power supply and DB9F-to-DB9F Null Modem cable (P/N 500-164-R).

Ideal For

  • Remote monitoring and control of equipment with serial ports over Ethernet or the Internet
  • Serial tunneling between two UDS2100 device servers to create virtual serial connections
  • Modem replacement using modem emulation mode and modem AT commands
  • Windows-based applications using Com Port Redirector software to access UDS2100 serial ports as local PC serial ports
