About the Lantronix UDS2100
The UDS2100 (also written UDS 2100) network-enables two pieces of serial equipment from one small metal box, so you can manage or share devices such as instruments, terminals and controllers that were never designed for a network. Each port is independently software-selectable for RS232, RS422 or RS485, and data travels over a single 10/100 Ethernet connection.
Ports run from 300 baud to 921 Kbaud with hardware and software flow control, 2- and 4-wire RS485 support and 15 kV ESD protection. Lantronix specifies the connectors as two DB9M DTE ports. Serial tunneling works either through Com Port Redirector with TruPort technology, which lets Windows software read and set hardware pins and access serial buffers as if the ports were local, or by pairing two UDS2100 units over the network. RFC2217 is listed among supported protocols, and modem emulation mode replaces dial-up modems by accepting AT commands.
Configuration runs through DeviceInstaller, a web browser, Telnet, serial login or SNMP, and custom web pages can be stored in flash. Power is 9-30 VDC on a barrel connector at 1.8 W maximum. The IP30 metal enclosure has integrated wall mounts, accepts an optional 35 mm DIN rail kit and operates from 0°C to 60°C.

The two UDS2100 part numbers differ only in the AC power supply in the box. UD2100001-01 ships with a US domestic power supply; UD2100002-01 ships with an international supply and regional adapters, for sites outside North America. Optional accessories: ACDIN2001-01 DIN rail mount kit, ACC-500-164-R DB9F to DB9F null modem cable, ACC-500-163-R DB25M to DB9F serial cable, and ACC-520-0182-00 12 VDC 10 W wall-cube supply with four AC plugs.

How many serial devices can the UDS2100 connect?
Two. Each port is independently configurable as RS232, RS422 or RS485 (2- or 4-wire) and supports rates from 300 baud to 921 Kbaud. Both share a single 10/100 Ethernet connection.
What is the difference between UD2100001-01 and UD2100002-01?
Only the included power supply. UD2100001-01 includes a US domestic supply, and UD2100002-01 includes an international supply with regional adapters. The device server is the same.
Can Windows software use the UDS2100 as a COM port?
Yes. Com Port Redirector with TruPort technology maps the UDS2100 ports to virtual COM ports and gives applications control of hardware pins and serial buffers.
What is the UDS2100 operating temperature?
0°C to 60°C operating and -40°C to 85°C storage. For -40°C to 70°C operation with Modbus support, Lantronix offers the single-port UDS1100-IAP. The IP30 metal enclosure has integrated wall mounts.
