About the Lantronix BOLERO40 Series
BOLERO43 trackers (also written Bolero 43) locate and monitor vehicles, trailers and mobile assets over LTE Cat M1 and NB1 networks. Built on the Lantronix FOX platform, the device fits GNSS, a triple-axis accelerometer, cellular and an internal antenna into a 70 x 52.5 x 20.6 mm, 118 g fiberglass-reinforced casing. The IP68 enclosure survives immersion to 1.2 m for 60 minutes and is rustproof, so units can be mounted where weather and washdown reach them.
Main power accepts 10.8 to 48.0 VDC, with a 3.15 Wh Li-ion backup battery as the alternate source, and the device supports ignition sensing and tow alerts. The 72-channel GNSS engine tracks GPS/QZSS, GLONASS, Galileo and BeiDou with 2.5 m GPS position accuracy. Two 2FF SIM slots let the device switch carriers for cross-border coverage. Interfaces include RS-232, two configurable analog or digital I/Os with ignition sensing, a 1-Wire port for temperature sensors or iButton driver ID, and CANbus.
The embedded firmware supports 3000 geofences, 2000 waypoints, 40 programmable timers, triggers and counters, driver logbooks and behavior evaluation, jamming detection, two APN settings for home and roaming, primary and backup servers, and local or OTA configuration and firmware updates. Devices are configured through the PFAL command set. Optional software-activated premium features add capabilities such as Eco Drive, AES 128 encryption, Lua scripting and CAN/FMS/OBDII data.

- Two Mini SIM (2FF) slots, or factory-fitted MFF SIMs, let the tracker switch between carriers for continuous national and cross-border coverage with fewer roaming charges.
- Wide 10.8-48 VDC input
- The supply accepts 10.8 to 48.0 VDC from car or truck electrical systems, backed by a 3.15 Wh Li-ion battery when main power is lost.
- Multi-constellation GNSS
- A 72-channel engine covers GPS/QZSS, GLONASS, Galileo and BeiDou with SBAS and assisted GNSS, giving 2.5 m GPS position accuracy.
- Driver and vehicle data
- Ignition sensing, a ±8g accelerometer for harsh braking and tilt, 1-Wire iButton driver ID and CANbus feed trip, logbook and driver behavior reports.
- Percepxion pre-installed
- Every BOLERO40 device ships with the Lantronix Percepxion platform for remote monitoring, lifecycle management and OTA updates of the tracker fleet.
How to choose the right BOLERO40 Series part number
Choose the tracker by operating region, since each part number carries different LTE-M/NB1 bands. B43H002S is the Europe model with bands B3, B8 and B20 plus 2G fallback. B43H001S is the North America (AT&T) model on band B13. B43H207S is the Japan model with B1, B8, B18 and B19. All three have internal antennas, GNSS, accelerometer, RS-232, two I/Os, 1-Wire, CANbus and a battery. Premium features such as 1000005 (CH/FMS/OBDII) or 1000104 (Lua) are software activated. Cables are 60044 (service and power) and 60286 (power and OBDII).

Is the BOLERO40 Series waterproof?

Can the BOLERO40 read vehicle CAN bus or OBDII data?
The trackers include a CANbus interface. CAN, FMS and OBDII data is enabled by software-activated premium feature 1000005, and the 60286 cable connects to any OBDII-compliant vehicle with a separate ignition wire.
How is the BOLERO40 mounted in a vehicle?
Lantronix specifies double-sided adhesive pads or cable ties, neither included. The cellular and GNSS antennas are internal, and the 1 m wire harness ends in a 2x4 connector that mates with the 60044 and 60286 cables.
