About the Lantronix SESPM Series
The SESPM Series (SESPM1040-541-LT, also written SESPM 1040) puts a managed switch directly at the outdoor edge, so cameras, wireless radios, PoE lighting and digital signage on a pole or building wall do not need a separate cabinet. The enclosure is rated IP66 and NEMA 4X, with 6 kV surge protection on the AC line and fuse protection on the PoE and data ports, which removes the need for external circuit protection between the switch and attached devices.
Every model has four 10/100/1000Base-T IEEE 802.3bt PoE++ ports at up to 90 W each and one combo RJ-45 or 100/1000Base-X SFP port. The AC version supplies 180 W total, the 48 VDC version 240 W, and the PD version, itself powered by an 802.3bt Type 4 Class 8 source or composite cable, passes on 80 W and adds a 12 VDC auxiliary output. Operating range inside the enclosure is -30°C to +70°C.
NFC lets installers load a configuration from a mobile app before the switch is powered, and Bluetooth Low Energy reads alarms or changes settings from the ground without a ladder or scissor lift. Management covers web GUI, CLI, SNMP, RADIUS/TACACS+, 802.1Q VLANs, Auto Power Reset, PoE scheduling, cable diagnostics and tamper detection.

- Configure the switch from a phone over NFC before powering it, then read alarms or change settings over BLE without climbing to it.
- 6 kV surge protection
- Meets GR-1089 CORE Issue 4 and ITU-T K.21 6 kV on the AC line, with fuse protection on PoE and data ports.
- Field-added modules
- Optional modules add a second combo port, 24 VDC passive PoE for non-standard radios, or four isolated digital I/O channels for alarms.
How to choose the right SESPM Series part number
The three base models differ only in power. SESPM1040-541-LT-AC runs on 120-240 VAC with a 180 W PoE budget; add a country code for the preinstalled cord (-NA, -EU, -UK, -SA South Africa, -JP, -OZ, -BR or -AR Argentina), for example SESPM1040-541-LT-AC-NA. SESPM1040-541-LT-DC takes 48 VDC and supplies 240 W. SESPM1040-541-LT-PD is powered by an 802.3bt Type 4 Class 8 PSE and supplies 80 W. Add-ons: SESPM-2P-1G-CP second combo port, SESPM-2P-24V-CP passive 24 V PoE port, SESPM-4P-DIG digital I/O, SESPM-4P-PMB pole mount and SESPM-4P-FMKIT fiber management.

SESPM Series FAQ
What is the PoE budget of the SESPM switch?
Each of the four PoE++ ports delivers up to 90 W. Total budget depends on the model: 180 W for the AC version, 240 W for the DC version and 80 W for the PoE-powered PD version. Lantronix recommends CAT6 cable or better for 90 W loads.
Can the SESPM be powered over PoE?
Yes. SESPM1040-541-LT-PD is powered by an IEEE 802.3bt Type 4 Class 8 PSE, or over copper running parallel to fiber in a composite cable. It then supplies up to 80 W of PoE to its own ports and has a 12 VDC auxiliary output.
Is the SESPM rated for outdoor installation?
Yes. The enclosure is IP66 and NEMA 4X rated. Operating range is -30°C to +70°C inside the enclosure and -40°C to +50°C external ambient, with 5% to 95% non-condensing humidity. A pole mount bracket kit is optional.
How do I add a second uplink to the SESPM?
Install the SESPM-2P-1G-CP Combo Port Module to activate a second 10/100/1000Base-T maintenance port or 1000Base-X uplink. The SESPM-2P-24V-CP version instead adds a port with 24 VDC passive PoE for non-standard powered devices.
How is the SESPM configured in the field?
Before power-up, an installer can write the configuration over NFC from the mobile app. After installation, BLE gives remote access to alarms and settings. Web GUI, CLI over SSH or the RS-232 console port, and SNMP are also supported.
