Overview
About the Lantronix XPort Pro
XPort Pro (also written XPortPro) is in production but carries Lantronix's NRFND status (not recommended for new designs). It packs a 32-bit processor, memory, a 10/100 Ethernet interface and a serial interface inside a 33.9 x 16.25 x 13.5 mm RJ45 connector housing. It is footprint compatible with the original XPort, so existing XPort board designs can move up to more processing and Linux without a new layout. Lantronix also points designers to the newer XPort EDGE gateway.
The serial port runs at software-selectable rates from 300 to 921 kbps with RTS/CTS and DTR/DCD modem control and 3 programmable I/O pins. Network protocols include TCP/IP, UDP, DHCP, SNMPv2, FTP, HTTP, SMTP, SSHv2 and SSLv3. Security covers AES, 3DES and RC4 encryption with SHA-1 and MD5 authentication. The module runs from 3.3 VDC and operates from -40 to 85°C in the extended temperature versions offered here.
The Linux option includes built-in IPv6 and lets developers deploy custom applications using the large libraries available for Linux, supported by a Linux SDK and a VMware image. Evolution OS has its own SDK. Management tools include an internal web manager with SSL login, a CLI over serial, Telnet or SSH, XML configuration records and DeviceInstaller, with firmware upgrades via FTP, web or serial port. Lantronix has already completed critical agency certification.

How to choose the right XPort Pro part number
Pick the operating system first. Evolution OS modules are XPP1002000-02R (bulk, 50-unit minimum) and XPP100200S-02R (sample). Linux modules are XPP1003000-04R (bulk, 50-unit minimum) and XPP100300S-04R (sample). All four are extended temperature with encryption and 16 MB SDRAM. For development, XPPDK1000-EVO-02 and XPPDK1000-LNX-02 kits include a module with the matching OS, while the XP10010NMK-01 Universal Demo Board is sold without a module.

Is the XPort Pro discontinued?
No, but Lantronix lists XPort Pro as In Production-NRFND, meaning it is still produced but not recommended for new designs. Lantronix also directs designers to the XPort device server and the newer XPort EDGE gateway.
