About the Lantronix PremierWave 2050
PremierWave 2050 is in Last Time Buy status, so designs still using it should place final orders now; Lantronix does not name a direct replacement on the product page. The module, ordered under the PW2050 part prefix, adds Linux-based 802.11ac Wi-Fi to equipment that already speaks Ethernet, handling connection management, security and Ethernet to Wi-Fi bridging in a production-ready software stack. Lantronix describes it as the industry's first industrial grade 5G Wi-Fi module for Ethernet devices, where 5G refers to the 5 GHz band.
The radio is 1x1 802.11ac up to 433 Mbps and 802.11n up to 150 Mbps, dual band 2.4 and 5 GHz across UNII-1, 2, 2e and 3, with 20, 40 and 80 MHz channels, transmit beamforming and LDPC. A Soft AP serves up to 14 simultaneous clients and can run alongside client mode. Security covers WPA2 Enterprise with EAP-TLS, EAP-TTLS, EAP-PEAP and EAP-FAST, SSH, TLS, PKI with 2048-bit RSA and NIST-certified AES. Modular RF certification, Wi-Fi Alliance certification and the IPv6 Ready logo shorten product approval.
The module runs from 5 VDC at 270 mA average, measures 45.66 x 45.07 x 3.5 mm and operates from -40 to +85 C. It is managed by CLI over serial, Telnet or SSH, by web browser, Web Services API or XML configuration, and is OTA field upgradeable.

- Run as Soft AP with DHCP server and DNS proxy for up to 14 clients while connected as a client to the site WLAN, or use either mode alone.
- Enterprise WLAN security
- WPA2 Enterprise with EAP-TLS, EAP-TTLS, EAP-PEAPv0/v1 and EAP-FAST, AES/CCMP ciphers, SSH and TLS management, PKI certificates and a port-blocking firewall.
- Extended temperature rating
- Operates and stores from -40 to +85 C at 0% to 90% non-condensing humidity, suiting industrial and commercial equipment in harsh environments.

How to choose the right PremierWave 2050 part number
The digits after PW2050 set the antenna and mounting option. 10 is LGA with dual u.FL antenna connectors, 20 is LGA with one u.FL and an onboard chip antenna, and 30 is a through-hole version with dual u.FL. The final letter sets packaging: B is a JEDEC tray of 120 for production, S is a single sample, and K is an evaluation kit. So PW205020002B is a tray of chip-antenna LGA modules, PW205030002B is the through-hole tray, and PW205010002K is the dual u.FL evaluation kit. TAA-compliant options include PW205020002B, PW205010002S and both kits.
