About the Lantronix S6110-1040
When a site needs several T1, E1 or J1 circuits extended over fiber, running a separate converter pair for each wastes fiber and rack space. The ION S6110-1040 (S6110 for short) is a media converter mux that combines four RJ-48 DS1 ports onto one fiber interface, so four circuits share one fiber link. The converters must be used in pairs, one at each end, and each RJ-48 port supports twisted-pair runs up to 1.5 km.
The fiber side is an empty SFP slot that takes 100Base-X/OC-3 modules, so fiber type, distance and wavelength are set by the optic you choose. CWDM SFPs can be used to add further capacity to existing fiber. Switch settings control line code, line build out, loopbacks and the Alarm Indication Signal (AIS). T1 and J1 run at 1.544 Mb/s and E1 at 2.048 Mb/s, and the unit complies with ANSI T1.102, T1.403, ITU G.703, G.823 and AT&T Pub 62411.
When the remote S6110 links to a C6110 card in a managed ION chassis, it is managed in-band over the fiber with full status, configuration, loopbacks and remote firmware upgrades. The unit operates from -10°C to 65°C and draws up to 6 W from a 12 VDC adapter.
