About the Lantronix EO2Px Series
Many buildings already have copper runs that cannot carry standard Ethernet: CAT 3, old phone pairs, elevator traveling cables. The EO2Px extenders (also written EO2PX) reuse that wire. The local unit (EO2PSE4052-111) sits at the network end and sends data plus SELV power down a single twisted pair or an RJ45 cable to the remote unit (EO2PD4052-111), which delivers 10/100/1000Base-T with IEEE 802.3af/at PoE+ to a camera, access point or other IP device. The two units must be used as a pair.
Over UTP the link runs at half-Gigabit speeds to 330 ft (100 m) or Fast Ethernet to about 1,800 ft (550 m), depending on wire gauge. Full PoE+ reaches 335-1,500 ft over a single pair or 1,500-6,800 ft over multiple pairs, based on 24 AWG cable at 29.9 ohm per 1000 ft. Both ends have a 10/100/1000 RJ45 and 100/1000Base-X SFP combo port for copper or fiber. Traffic over the 2-wire segment is protected with 128-bit AES encryption, and a proprietary SELV classification stops power going to non-matching devices.
A single IP address and password-protected web GUI manages both units, with power monitoring, Auto Power Reset and field-upgradeable firmware. The local unit takes 48 VDC from an isolated source or the 90 W adapter. Operating range is 0 to 65 C, with industrial SFPs required above 50 C.

- Half-Gigabit Ethernet to 330 ft (100 m) or Fast Ethernet to about 1,800 ft (550 m) over UTP, with longer reach on lower-resistance or multiple pairs.
- Copper or fiber uplink
- Each unit has a 10/100/1000 RJ45 and 100/1000Base-X SFP combo port, so either end can connect to copper or fiber network equipment.
- Encrypted 2-wire link
- 128-bit AES encryption protects data on the 2-wire segment, and SELV classification prevents power delivery to unintended devices on the pair.
- One IP for both ends
- A password-protected web GUI configures local and remote units through a single IP address, with power monitoring, Auto Power Reset and firmware upgrades.
How to choose the right EO2Px Series part number
The series is two complementary units sold separately and always deployed together. EO2PSE4052-111 is the local (power sourcing) unit: RJ45 or SFP combo port toward the network, and an RJ45 or 2-wire terminal block that sends data and power down the line. EO2PD4052-111 is the remote (powered) unit: it receives power on its RJ45 or terminal block and outputs a 10/100/1000Base-T IEEE 802.3af/at PoE+ port or an SFP combo port to the end device. Order one of each per link, plus the 25148 power supply (90-264 VAC or 127-370 VDC input) or an isolated 48 VDC source for the local unit.

Do EO2PSE4052-111 and EO2PD4052-111 need to be used together?
Yes. The EO2Px extenders must be used as a pair. The EO2PSE4052-111 local unit connects to the network and powers the line; the EO2PD4052-111 remote unit sits near the IP device and provides the PoE+ output.
How far can the EO2Px extend Ethernet over 2-wire?

The local unit takes 48 VDC from a properly isolated source or the designated 90 W power adapter. The remote unit is normally powered from the local unit, but can also take its own 48 VDC input for redundancy or extra power.
What is the EO2Px operating temperature?
The units operate from 0 to 65 C and store from -40 to 85 C. Above 50 C ambient, industrial SFP modules rated to 85 C must be used in the combo port. The housing is rated IP30.
