Lantronix SGX 5150-MD Medical Device Wi-Fi IoT Gateways

The SGX 5150-MD (also written SGX 5150 MD or SGX5150MD) is the medical version of the SGX 5150 IoT gateway. It carries 60601-1 and 60601-1-2 4th Edition certification, so it can sit alongside patient-care equipment, and it moves data from bedside and clinical devices to private or public cloud infrastructure and mobile apps. Hospitals use it to bring legacy RS-232 equipment onto the wireless network and to track high-value assets.

Each unit has one or two RJ45 RS-232 ports at up to 921 Kbps with 15 kV ESD protection, a USB 2.0 Type-C port configurable as host or device, and a 10/100 Ethernet port with 1.5 kV surge isolation. The 1x1 802.11ac radio covers 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz with 20, 40 and 80 MHz channels and supports WPA2-Enterprise with EAP-TLS, EAP-TTLS, PEAP and EAP-FAST. Power is 12 VDC from the included medical supply, at 1.9 W typical.

InfiniShield security adds secure boot, IPsec, and firmware authentication with ECDSA 256-bit verification, plus secure data storage. Configuration runs through an HTML5 web manager, CLI over serial, Telnet or SSH, SNMP v2/v3 and XML records. A Linux SDK and Python runtime support custom applications, and Percepxion can manage deployed units. The operating range is 0 °C to 45 °C with an IP20 rating, matching indoor clinical environments.
