Overview
About the Lantronix G520 Series
The G520 Series (also written G-520) splits into two application categories. The G526 industrial gateways use LTE Cat-4 and focus on Ethernet, serial, I/O and fieldbus protocol conversion. The G527 and G528 security gateways add a Microchip ATECC608 secure element and PSE-PoE+ on the LAN ports, so a single unit can backhaul and power IP cameras. The G527 runs LTE Cat-7, while the G528 adds 5G Sub-6 GHz (Rel. 15) with LTE Cat-20 fallback and TAA compliance.
Every model carries dual mini-SIM holders, two 10/100 Ethernet ports (one WAN reconfigurable as LAN), RS-232 on a DB9, RS-485 on a 5-pin COMBICON header, a USB 2.0 host port, user-configurable analog or 4-20 mA inputs, ignition sensing and GNSS. Wi-Fi 5 runs as client or access point, and Bluetooth/BLE is version 5.1. Power input is 10.8 to 60 VDC, with roughly 100 seconds of Last Gasp backup, and the housing operates from -30 °C to +70 °C.
On the software side, the gateways handle failover or load balancing across Ethernet, cellular and Wi-Fi, IPsec (up to 4 channels), OpenVPN and WireGuard, a zone-based firewall and VLANs. Industrial protocols include Modbus master, DNP3 outstation, IEC 104/101, EtherCAT and DLMS client. Fleets are managed through Lantronix Percepxion or third-party platforms, and the G520 SDK lets developers build custom packages in Python or C/C++.

- Dual SIM and Last Gasp
- Two mechanically secured mini-SIM holders provide carrier redundancy, and Li-ion cells give about 100 seconds of Last Gasp power to report an outage.
- Percepxion and SDK
- Percepxion handles remote updates, servicing and monitoring at fleet scale, while the G520 SDK supports custom firmware in Python or C/C++.
How to choose the right G520 Series part number
Pick the model first, then the region. G526 (LTE Cat-4, no PoE, no secure element) comes as G526GP12S for EMEA, Taiwan and Australia, G526GP1AS for North America (AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon), G526GP17S for Japan and Korea, and G526GP1CS for India and China. G527 (LTE Cat-7, PoE+, secure element) comes as G527GP22S for EMEA/APAC, G527GP2AS for North America and G527GP27S for Japan. G528GP2FS is the global 5G model. A trailing G, as in G526GP1ASG, G527GP2ASG and G528GP2FSG, marks the TAA-compliant version. ACC-G526-1, ACC-G527-MW and ACC-G528-MW bundle antennas, power supply and DIN-rail clip.

G520 Series FAQ
What is the difference between the G526, G527 and G528?
The G526 is the industrial model with LTE Cat-4 and no PoE. The G527 adds a secure element and PSE-PoE+ with LTE Cat-7. The G528 keeps the security features and moves to 5G Sub-6 GHz with LTE Cat-20 and 3G fallback, and Lantronix lists it as TAA compliant.
Can the G527 or G528 power an IP camera over PoE?
Yes. The security variants support PSE-PoE+ at up to 30 W per LAN port. Lantronix notes this requires a sufficiently powerful supply; the ACC-G527-MW and ACC-G528-MW bundles include an SDR75-48 PoE power supply for that purpose.
What power input and operating temperature does the G520 support?
The gateways accept 10.8 to 60 VDC and operate from -30 °C to +70 °C at up to 95% relative humidity. Storage range is -40 °C to +85 °C. Last Gasp batteries are not functional below -10 °C.
Which VPN and industrial protocols does the G520 Series support?
VPN options include IPsec with up to 4 channels, OpenVPN client and server, WireGuard, L2TP, GRE and PPTP client. Industrial protocols include Modbus master, DNP3 outstation, IEC 104 slave, IEC 101 master, EtherCAT and DLMS client.
Which G520 part numbers are TAA compliant?
Part numbers ending in G or GC are the TAA-compliant versions: G526GP1ASG, G527GP2ASG, G528GP2FSG and G528GP2FSGC. The G528 5G model is described by Lantronix as TAA compliant.
