About the Lantronix SGX 5150
The SGX 5150 (also written SGX5150) connects legacy machines and business-critical assets to an enterprise network over Wi-Fi or Ethernet. It combines up to two RJ45 serial ports, a USB 2.0 Type-C port that runs in host or device mode, and a 10/100 Ethernet port in a compact metal case, so one box can serve as a serial device server, a wireless bridge and an application host.
The radio is 1x1 802.11ac on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz with 20, 40 and 80 MHz channels, and supports WPA2-Enterprise with EAP-TLS, EAP-TTLS, PEAP and EAP-FAST. Soft AP, Wi-Fi Direct and simultaneous Soft AP plus client mode simplify setup. Serial ports run up to 921 Kbps with 15 kV ESD protection. Power comes from a 9-30 VDC barrel jack, USB Type-C or optional 802.3at Class 2 PoE, and the unit operates from -40 °C to 70 °C.
InfiniShield security provides secure boot, secure firmware updates, data-at-rest protection and role-based access control. Management is through an HTML5 web manager, CLI over serial, Telnet or SSH, SNMP v2/v3 and XML configuration records. The SGX 5150 XL adds 8 GB of internal USB flash for local data collection, and the Yocto-based SDK is shared with the PremierWave 2050.

- Rated for -40 °C to 70 °C operation and 5 to 95% non-condensing humidity, with 1.5 kV surge isolation on Ethernet.
How to choose the right SGX 5150 part number
Choose by serial count, PoE and region. SGX5150020 models have no serial port (USB and Ethernet only). SGX5150122 and SGX5150222 add one RS-232 RJ45 port; SGX5150123 and SGX5150225 add one RS-232 port plus PoE. The XL models add 8 GB storage and two RJ45 serial ports: SGX51502N2 has 2x RS-232 with two antennas in the box, while SGX51502N5 has 2x RS-232/RS-485 with PoE. The suffix sets the regional version: US for North America, ES for Europe and worldwide, JS for Japan, for example SGX5150225ES or SGX51502N5US.

What is the difference between the SGX 5150 and SGX 5150 XL?
The XL adds 8 GB of internal USB flash for local data storage and has two RJ45 serial ports instead of one or none. The SGX51502N5 XL versions support RS-232/RS-485 and PoE, while the SGX51502N2 versions are RS-232 only and ship with two antennas.
Can the SGX 5150 be powered over Ethernet?
Yes, on PoE part numbers such as SGX5150123US, SGX5150225ES and SGX51502N5US. The Ethernet port is an 802.3at Class 2 powered device. Other inputs are a 9-30 VDC barrel jack and USB Type-C.
What Wi-Fi security does the SGX 5150 support?
