Overview
About the Lantronix xPico 200 Series
The xPico 200 Series (also written xPico200) lets OEMs add managed wireless connectivity to industrial and commercial products without writing Wi-Fi or Bluetooth drivers. The modules can act as a network co-processor that offloads all IoT communications from the product's microcontroller, or as a wireless microcontroller running your application through the provided SDK. A global weighing-scale manufacturer, for example, used the xPico 240 to send scale data wirelessly to point-of-sale terminals in grocery stores.
The radio is dual-band 2.4 and 5 GHz 802.11a/b/g up to 54 Mbps and 802.11n 1x1 up to 150 Mbps, with 20 and 40 MHz channels, antenna diversity and 802.11r fast roaming. A 10/100 Ethernet MAC connects over RMII. The xPico 250 adds Bluetooth 4.2 dual mode (BR/EDR and BLE) with central and peripheral roles. Concurrent Soft AP and client mode supports up to 5 Soft AP clients, or 4 in concurrent mode. Host interfaces include a TTL UART at 9600 bps to 4 Mbps, USB host and 12 GPIOs.
InfiniShield security provides secure boot, secure FOTA updates, secure key storage, encrypted configuration, role-based access control and WPA2 Enterprise, and the modules are Wi-Fi Alliance certified. Percepxion integration adds cloud-based remote device management. The modules run from 3.3VDC, operate from -40 to +85 C and carry FCC, IC, EU RED, Japan MIC, China SRRC and AU/NZS approvals.

xPico 200 Series FAQ
What is the difference between the xPico 240 and xPico 250?
Both provide dual-band 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, Ethernet, the same host interfaces and InfiniShield security. The xPico 250 adds Bluetooth 4.2 dual mode (BR/EDR and BLE). Boot peak current is 580 mA for the 240 and 600 mA for the 250.
What form factors are xPico 200 modules available in?
Two: a 17 x 25 x 2 mm LGA surface-mount module supplied on tape and reel (MSL 3), and a 22 x 35.5 x 2.73 mm edge-connector card supplied on tray. Lantronix lists u.FL antenna cables and a dual-band RP-SMA antenna as compatible accessories.
Does the xPico 200 Series support WPA2 Enterprise?
Yes. It supports WPA/WPA2 Personal with AES/CCMP and TKIP and WPA2 Enterprise with EAP-TLS, EAP-TTLS, EAP-PEAP and EAP-FAST, and is Wi-Fi Alliance certified for Personal and Enterprise security.
Can the xPico 200 run my application without a host MCU?
Yes. Besides network co-processor mode, the module can operate as a wireless microcontroller running your code with the Lantronix SDK, removing the need for a separate host processor in simpler designs.
What temperature range is the xPico 200 Series rated for?
The modules operate from -40 to +85 C and can be stored from -40 to +100 C, at 5% to 85% non-condensing storage humidity. They are rated for 40G operational vibration and 65G non-operational shock.
