About the Lantronix E220 Series
The E220 Series (sometimes written E-220; orderable models carry the E228 prefix) is a family of rugged cellular routers for M2M and enterprise applications that cannot tolerate a lost connection. Cellular can run as the primary link or as automatic WAN failover behind a wired line, and the router supports failover or load balancing across Ethernet, cellular and Wi-Fi. The E220 Series is in Last Time Buy status, so plan remaining orders and spares now.
The orderable E228 models use a WP7607 LTE Cat 4 engine rated up to 150 Mbps down and 50 Mbps up, with 3G and 2G fallback. They run OpenWrt on a 580 MHz processor with 128MB RAM and add RS-485, two digital inputs and two digital outputs, Modbus RTU to TCP support and 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi as client or access point with multiple SSIDs. Main power is 10.8 to 60 VDC, compliant with ISO 7637-2, and the operating range is -30 to +70 C.
VPN options include OpenVPN client and server, IPSec, GRE, L2TP and PPTP, backed by a zone-based firewall, VLAN, DMZ and SIM PIN protection. Routers are configured through a web interface with a setup wizard or remotely by SMS and OTA updates, are TR-069 capable and can be managed at fleet scale from the ConsoleFlow cloud platform.

- Wide DC input range
- The main power input accepts 10.8 to 60 VDC on a Micro-Fit 3.0 connector and complies with ISO 7637-2 for vehicle-grade power.
- Industrial serial and I/O
- An RS-485 port with 6 kV contact protection, Modbus RTU to TCP conversion and two digital inputs and outputs connect field equipment.
- Compact DIN-rail housing
- The brushed aluminium alloy body measures 61.25 x 85.75 x 24.5 mm, weighs about 152 g and mounts on DIN rail.
- Full VPN toolset
- OpenVPN client and server, IPSec, GRE, L2TP and PPTP plus a zone-based firewall secure traffic between remote sites and the core.

The router part numbers differ by cellular band set, so choose by deployment region. E228G002S covers EMEA with LTE bands 1, 3, 7, 8, 20 and 28. E228G004S covers Asia Pacific with LTE bands 1, 3, 5, 7, 8 and 28. E228G00CS covers China and India with LTE bands 1, 3 and 5 plus TDD 40 and 41. E228G00CB28 bundles the E228G00CS with an A32M0 antenna, KEEC0 cable, KDC22 power cable and BR351 DIN clip. MF17 is the E228 accessory bundle, and the P22E0 to P22E4 adapters supply 12 V 1.25 A with region-specific plugs.
