About the Lantronix EDS4100
The EDS4100 (also written EDS 4100) combines an Ethernet terminal server and a multiport device server in one metal enclosure, so four serial devices at one location can be networked, accessed and managed through a single unit. Lantronix positions it for integrating edge equipment such as medical devices, kiosks, POS and retail terminals and security equipment into enterprise networks, where encrypted access and a familiar management interface matter.
It has four DB9M serial ports: two RS-232 and two software-selectable RS-232, RS-422 or RS-485, each at 300 bps to 921.6 Kbps with CTS/RTS or XON/XOFF flow control. An Intel XScale IXP420 at 266 MHz with 32 MB SDRAM runs Lantronix Evolution OS. Security includes SSL v3, SSH v2, AES 128-bit, 3DES and RC4 encryption, password protection and IP filtering. Configuration uses a Cisco-like CLI, a built-in web server, XML, SNMP v2 with RS232 MIB, or DeviceInstaller, and Com Port Redirector provides virtual COM ports.
Power options remove the need for separate power converters: 802.3af PoE, 9-30 VDC on a barrel connector or 42-56 VDC on a screw terminal, at 5.4 W. Order ED41000P0-01 without a power supply or ED41000P2-01 with a universal AC supply. The unit operates from 0 to 55 C and measures 3.81 x 17.65 x 12.7 cm in a metal enclosure with removable wall mounts.

ED41000P0-01 ships without a power supply, for sites that will power it from 802.3af PoE, a 9-30 VDC source or a 42-56 VDC screw-terminal feed. ED41000P2-01 includes a 100-240 VAC international power supply with regional adapters. Both include DeviceInstaller and Com Port Redirector software and a quick start guide. ACC-520-0182-00 is a 12VDC 10W wall-cube supply sold separately.
