About the Lantronix EDS1100 / EDS2100
The EDS1100 and EDS2100 (also written EDS 1100 and EDS 2100) put serial equipment on a 10/100 Ethernet network with encryption built in. Lantronix calls them hybrid Ethernet terminal and multiport device servers: they connect devices such as medical equipment, POS terminals, security systems or networking gear so administrators can monitor, manage and control them remotely. The included Com Port Redirector and Secure Com Port Redirector let existing serial applications talk to the remote port with no code changes.
Each serial port is software-selectable RS-232, RS-422 or RS-485 (2- and 4-wire), with selectable termination and biasing, at 300 bps to 921 kbps with CTS, RTS, DTR and DCD signals. Security includes SSH v2 client and server, SSL v3, AES, 3DES and RC4 encryption and certificates up to 1024 bits. A 32-bit processor with 8 MB SDRAM and 8 MB flash runs Lantronix Evolution OS, or Linux with IPv6 for teams that want to deploy their own applications. Both units are rated -40 to 85 C and IP30.
Configuration runs through the web manager with SSL login, the CLI over serial, Telnet or SSH, XML configuration records via CLI or FTP, SNMP, or the included Lantronix DeviceInstaller. The internal web server can be customized with CGI and updated over FTP, and firmware upgrades over FTP, TFTP, web or the serial port. The EDS1100 measures 9.0 x 6.4 x 2.3 cm; the EDS2100 is 9.5 x 7.2 x 2.3 cm.

How to choose the right EDS1100 / EDS2100 part number
Choose by port count, then operating system. ED1100002-01 is the one-port EDS1100 with a DB25F DCE connector, and ED2100002-01 is the two-port EDS2100 with two DB9M DTE connectors; both run Lantronix Evolution OS. The -LNX-01 versions, ED1100002-LNX-01 and ED2100002-LNX-01, ship with Linux instead for custom application development. All four include a 100-240 VAC international power supply with regional plugs. ACC-500-171-R breaks the EDS1100 DB25 out to RS-485 and power screw terminals, and ACDIN2001-01 adds DIN-rail mounting.
