Overview

About the Lantronix SDSTX3110-124-LRT-B

The SDSTX3110-124-LRT-B (sometimes searched as SDSTX3110) moves serial data from PLCs, meters, card readers and other legacy equipment onto an IP network. Each of its four DB9 ports is independently set to RS-232, RS-422 or 2- or 4-wire RS-485, so a mix of devices can share one unit. Two 10/100Base-TX ports can connect to one server or to multiple redundant servers.

Operating modes include Virtual COM, serial tunnel, TCP server, TCP client and UDP. Included COM port redirector software presents each serial port as a virtual COM port on a Windows server, or two units can be paired to tunnel serial links across the network. Baud rates run from 110 bps to 460 kbps with full RS-232 handshake lines and XON/XOFF, RTS/CTS or DTR/DSR flow control. Data is protected with SSL encryption, management uses HTTPS and SSH, and an IP whitelist limits access. Events are reported by syslog, email and SNMP traps.

The IP30 unit accepts 12 to 48 VDC on redundant inputs, draws 4.32 W and is certified to operate from -40°C to +70°C. It is tested for EMC immunity under the EN 61000-4 series and for shock, vibration and free fall to IEC 60068-2, and status LEDs show power, Ethernet link and serial TX/RX activity at a glance.

Key capabilities

Four software-selectable serial ports
Each DB9 port runs RS-232, RS-422 or 2- or 4-wire RS-485 at 110 bps to 460 kbps, so mixed field devices share one server.
Dual Ethernet for redundancy
Two 10/100Base-TX ports can be configured to one or multiple redundant servers, keeping serial data flowing if one path fails.
Encrypted, access-controlled
SSL encrypts serial data, HTTPS and SSH secure management, and an IP whitelist restricts which hosts can connect.
Hardened for field cabinets
IP30 enclosure, -40°C to +70°C operation and 12-48 VDC redundant power inputs suit roadside, plant-floor and utility enclosures.
Virtual COM and tunneling
COM port redirector software creates virtual COM ports on Windows servers, or two units tunnel serial links across Ethernet.

How to choose the right SDSTX3110-124-LRT-B part number

SDSTX3110-124-LRT-B is a single model: four RS-232/422/485 DB9 serial ports plus two 10/100Base-TX RJ-45 ports, powered from 12 to 48 VDC. Choose a DIN-rail power supply to match your cabinet: the 25135 provides 24 VDC at 10 W, which covers the unit's 4.32 W draw, and the 25130 provides 48 VDC at 39.8 W where a 48 V bus also feeds other equipment.
