Overview
About the Lantronix TN-10GSFP-xRx Series
These MSA-compliant SFP+ modules (TN-10GSFP, also written TN 10GSFP) provide 10GBase-X optical uplinks for switches, routers and servers with SFP+ ports. The family is deliberately simple: an SR module for short multimode runs inside buildings and data centers, an LR module for single-mode links between buildings and across campuses, and a hardened T version of each for outdoor cabinets and industrial enclosures.
SR modules use 850 nm optics on duplex LC multimode fiber and reach 300 m on 50/125 OM3, 82 m on 50/125 µm fiber with 500 MHz-km modal bandwidth and 33 m on 62.5/125 µm fiber, with a 2.6 dB link budget. LR modules use 1310 nm on single-mode fiber for 10 km, with link budgets of 6.4 dB for the LR1 and 9.0 dB for the LR1T. SR modules are also compliant with 10GBase-SW and LR modules with 10GBase-LW under IEEE 802.3ae; all run at 10.3 Gbps and include SFF-8472 digital diagnostics.
Standard modules operate from 0°C to 70°C, while the T modules operate from -40°C to +85°C, and all store from -40°C to 85°C. Every module runs from a single +3.3 V supply, supports bidirectional links up to 10.5 Gbps, is RoHS compliant and meets IEC 60825 and FDA 21 CFR 1040.10 and 1040.11 laser safety requirements.
Key capabilities
- SR and LR options
- Choose 850 nm SR for multimode runs up to 300 m or 1310 nm LR for single-mode links up to 10 km, both on duplex LC.
- Extended-temperature T versions
- TN-10GSFP-SRT and TN-10GSFP-LR1T operate from -40°C to +85°C for hardened switches in outdoor and industrial enclosures.
- SFF-8472 diagnostics
- Every module supports SFF-8472 digital diagnostics (DMI), so the host switch can read and report the transceiver's optical and electrical parameters.
- Higher LR1T link budget
- The TN-10GSFP-LR1T offers a 9.0 dB link budget versus 6.4 dB on the LR1, leaving more margin for splices and patch panels at 10 km.
- TAA compliant option
- The TN-10GSFP-LR1T extended-temperature single-mode module is listed as TAA compliant, which suits government and public-sector network projects.
How to choose the right TN-10GSFP-xRx Series part number
Pick fiber type first, then temperature. TN-10GSFP-SR is 10GBase-SR 850 nm multimode for up to 300 m on OM3, rated 0°C to 70°C; TN-10GSFP-SRT is the same optic rated -40°C to +85°C. TN-10GSFP-LR1 is 10GBase-LR 1310 nm single-mode for 10 km with a 6.4 dB budget; TN-10GSFP-LR1T is the extended-temperature version with a 9.0 dB budget and TAA compliance. All four use duplex LC connectors and include DMI.

TN-10GSFP-xRx Series FAQ
What is the difference between TN-10GSFP-SR and TN-10GSFP-LR1?
TN-10GSFP-SR is a 10GBase-SR 850 nm module for multimode fiber, reaching 300 m on OM3. TN-10GSFP-LR1 is a 10GBase-LR 1310 nm module for single-mode fiber, reaching 10 km. Both use duplex LC connectors and DMI.
What does the T suffix mean on TN-10GSFP modules?
The T versions, TN-10GSFP-SRT and TN-10GSFP-LR1T, are rated for extended operating temperature from -40°C to +85°C. Standard SR and LR1 modules operate from 0°C to 70°C.
How far does the TN-10GSFP-SR reach on multimode fiber?
Up to 300 m on 50/125 OM3 fiber, 82 m on 50/125 µm fiber with 500 MHz-km modal bandwidth, and 33 m on 62.5/125 µm fiber with 200 MHz-km bandwidth, all at 850 nm with a 2.6 dB link budget.
Do TN-10GSFP-xRx modules support digital diagnostics?
Yes. All four modules support SFF-8472 digital diagnostic monitoring (DMI), allowing a compatible host to read the transceiver's optical and electrical parameters for monitoring and troubleshooting.
