Overview
About the Lantronix TN-QSFP-100G Series
The TN-QSFP-100G family (also written TN-QSFP100G) brings 100 Gigabit Ethernet to any QSFP28 port in data center, high-performance computing and core network switches. Each module carries four 25 Gbps lanes for up to 103.1 Gbps of capacity, complies with IEEE 802.3bm and the QSFP28 MSA (SFF-8436), runs from a single 3.3 V supply and dissipates less than 3.5 W. Lantronix markets the series as Cisco compliant.
The three models match different cabling plants. TN-QSFP-100G-SR4 uses 850 nm over multimode fiber with an MPO connector, reaching 100 m on OM4 and 70 m on OM3 with a 2.3 dB link budget. TN-QSFP-100G-CWDM4 uses WDM wavelengths over duplex LC single-mode fiber to 2 km, and TN-QSFP-100G-LR4 uses 1295, 1300, 1304 and 1309 nm over duplex LC single-mode fiber to 10 km, both with a 6.3 dB budget. All include digital diagnostic monitoring, operate from 0 °C to 70 °C and are rated Class 1 under IEC 60825-1 and FDA 21 CFR 1040.10.
Key capabilities
- 4 x 25 Gbps lanes
- Each QSFP28 module aggregates four 25 Gbps lanes for up to 103.1 Gbps, compliant with IEEE 802.3bm 100G Ethernet.
- MPO or duplex LC
- SR4 uses an MPO connector on multimode trunks, while CWDM4 and LR4 run over a single duplex LC single-mode pair.
- 100 m to 10 km
- Coverage spans 70 m on OM3 and 100 m on OM4 with SR4, 2 km with CWDM4 and 10 km with LR4.
- Under 3.5 W per module
- Power dissipation below 3.5 W from a single 3.3 V supply helps keep dense 100G switch faceplates within thermal limits.
- Digital diagnostics
- Every model includes digital diagnostic monitoring so the host switch can track optical power and module health on each link.
How to choose the right TN-QSFP-100G Series part number
Pick by cabling and distance. TN-QSFP-100G-SR4 is the choice for multimode MPO trunks inside a data hall: 100 m on OM4 or 70 m on OM3, 850 nm, 2.3 dB budget. For single-mode duplex LC, choose TN-QSFP-100G-CWDM4 for links up to 2 km, such as between rows or rooms, or TN-QSFP-100G-LR4 for links up to 10 km, such as between buildings. Both single-mode models have a 6.3 dB link budget. Use the same model at both ends of the link.

TN-QSFP-100G Series FAQ
What is the difference between TN-QSFP-100G-SR4, CWDM4 and LR4?
SR4 runs over multimode fiber with an MPO connector to 100 m on OM4 or 70 m on OM3. CWDM4 and LR4 run over duplex LC single-mode fiber, CWDM4 to 2 km and LR4 to 10 km. All are 4 x 25 Gbps QSFP28 modules with DMI.
How far does the TN-QSFP-100G-SR4 reach?
It reaches 100 m on OM4 multimode fiber and 70 m on OM3 at 850 nm, with a 2.3 dB link budget. It uses an MPO connector, so it needs MPO multimode trunk cabling rather than duplex LC patch cords.
Are TN-QSFP-100G transceivers Cisco compatible?
Lantronix describes the TN-QSFP-100G Series as Cisco compliant 100G QSFP28 modules. They are hot-pluggable, comply with the QSFP28 MSA and IEEE 802.3bm, and can be installed in QSFP28 ports for 100 Gigabit Ethernet.
What is the power consumption of the TN-QSFP-100G modules?
Power dissipation is under 3.5 W per module from a single 3.3 V supply. The modules operate from 0 °C to 70 °C, store from -40 °C to 85 °C and meet IEC 60825-1 and FDA 21 CFR 1040.10 Class 1 laser safety.
