About the Lantronix TN-SFP-GE-x-C Series
Standard optics in roadside cabinets, substations and plant floors face condensation, dust and corrosive air that commercial modules are not built for. The TN-SFP-GE-x-C Series (TN-SFP-GE-S-C, TN-SFP-GE-L-C and TN-SFP-GE-Z-C) addresses this with conformal coating on the module electronics, tested to EIA-364-65B Class IIIA, and an extended -40°C to 85°C operating range. The modules are Cisco compatible and comply with IEEE 802.3z, so they suit hardened Cisco switches and other Gigabit SFP ports.
Three optics cover short, medium and long reach on LC duplex connectors. The 850 nm 1000Base-SX model runs 220 m on 62.5/125 μm or 550 m on 50/125 μm multimode fiber. The 1310 nm 1000Base-LX model reaches 10 km on single-mode fiber, and the 1550 nm model reaches 80 km with a 24.0 dB link budget. All three provide SFF-8472 digital diagnostics (DMI).
Each module draws 0.66 W from 3.3 V, measures 13 x 55 x 8 mm and complies with IEC-60825 and FDA 21 CFR 1040.10 and 1040.11 laser safety. The -40°C to 85°C rating and coating apply to all three part numbers, so the choice between them comes down to fiber type and span alone.
