About the Lantronix E-100BTX Series
The E-100BTX-FX-06 (also written E100BTX-FX-06) converts a 100Base-TX RJ45 port to 100Base-FX fiber so Fast Ethernet devices can reach beyond the 100 m copper limit. It works at Layer 1, passing data at line speed with no store-and-forward delay, which suits latency-sensitive links. Use converters in pairs to put a fiber segment between two copper devices, or a single unit to connect copper equipment to a switch with a 100Base-FX port.
Fixed-optic models run 1300 nm multimode to 2 km with an 11.0 dB link budget, or 1310 nm single-mode to 20 km with 16.0 dB (SC) or 17.3 dB (LC). The E-100BTX-FX-06(SFP) version has an empty 100Base-X SFP slot and accepts 100 Mbps SFP modules, so wavelength and distance are set by the optic. Four DIP switches control auto-negotiation, pause, active link pass through and Far-End-Fault, and the copper port supports auto-MDI/MDIX.
The converter measures 3 x 4.7 x 1 in, runs on 9-14 VDC from an external 12 VDC adapter at 1.75 W, and operates from 0 to 50 C. It mounts on a wall, DIN rail or in the RMS19-SA4-02 shelf and E-MCR-05 12-slot rack.

- Active link pass through and Far-End-Fault signal a broken fiber or copper link to attached equipment, and automatic link restoration recovers the path.
- SFP flexibility
- The E-100BTX-FX-06(SFP) accepts any 100 Mbps SFP module, letting you change distance or wavelength later by swapping the optic.
How to choose the right E-100BTX Series part number
All E-100BTX-FX-06 models share the same 100Base-TX RJ45 port; the suffix selects the fiber side. No suffix is 1300 nm multimode with ST connectors to 2 km, (SC) and (LC) are the same multimode optic with SC or LC connectors. (SM) is 1310 nm single-mode SC to 20 km and (SMLC) is single-mode LC to 20 km. E-100BTX-FX-06(SFP) ships with an empty SFP slot for a 100 Mbps SFP module of your choice. Match the connector and fiber type to the far-end device, and buy pairs for copper-fiber-copper links.
