Lantronix S6010 Series T1/E1 over Fiber Media Converters
The ION S6010 is a stand-alone, remotely managed DS1 T1/E1 media converter and NID that extends T1, E1 or PRI circuits over multimode or single-mode fiber, used in pairs at each end of the link.

About the Lantronix S6010 Series
The ION S6010 Series (also written S6010) carries DS1 circuits over fiber where copper T1 or E1 runs are too long, too noisy or already exhausted. Each unit converts a twisted-pair RJ-48 port to a fiber port, and a pair of converters, one at each end, forms the link. A switch selects T1 at 1.544 Mbit/s or E1 at 2.048 Mbit/s, so the same hardware serves both North American and international circuits, including PRI.
Fixed-optic models use ST or SC connectors on 1300 nm multimode to 2 km or 1310 nm single-mode to 20 km. The SFP model accepts standard 100Base-X/OC-3 SFPs with LC connectors, including CWDM SFPs that add capacity to existing fiber, plus single-fiber options. The twisted-pair side is rated to 1.5 km. Local or remote loopbacks on the copper or fiber side simplify circuit turn-up and fault isolation.
When the far-end S6010 links to a C6010 card in a managed ION chassis, it is managed in-band over the fiber, with SNMP, remote firmware upgrades and loopback control. The unit draws 2.6 W from a 100-240 VAC adapter with 12 VDC output and operates from -10°C to 65°C.

How to choose the right S6010 Series part number
All S6010 models have one RJ-48 twisted-pair port rated to 1.5 km; the fiber interface sets the part number. S6010-1011 uses 1300 nm multimode on ST connectors to 2 km (11.0 dB budget). S6010-1013 is 1300 nm multimode on SC to 2 km (12.0 dB). S6010-1014 is 1310 nm single-mode on SC to 20 km (16.0 dB). S6010-1040 has an empty SFP slot for CWDM, single-fiber or longer-reach optics. Order two units per link, and match the fiber type at both ends. Mounting accessories include WMBD, WMBL, RMS19-SA4-02 and E-MCR-05.

Do S6010 T1/E1 converters need to be used in pairs?
Yes. S6010 DS1 converters must be used in pairs, one on each end of the fiber link. Alternatively, the remote S6010 can link to a C6010 card in an ION chassis for in-band management.
Can the S6010 run both T1 and E1?
Yes. Each unit is switch selectable for T1 (1.544 Mbit/s) or E1 (2.048 Mbit/s). It complies with ANSI T1.102, T1.402, T1.408, ITU I.431, G.703, G.823 and related ETSI standards, and can extend PRI over fiber.
How far can the S6010 transmit over fiber?
Multimode models S6010-1011 and S6010-1013 reach 2 km at 1300 nm. The single-mode S6010-1014 reaches 20 km at 1310 nm. The S6010-1040 SFP-slot model distance depends on the installed 100Base-X/OC-3 SFP.
How is the S6010 managed remotely?
Management is in-band over the fiber when the remote S6010 links to a C6010 card in a managed ION chassis. This provides SNMP management, remote firmware upgrades and loopback control. A remote stand-alone can also be managed by its local peer.
