The SGPAT Series converts Gigabit fiber to 10/100/1000Base-T copper and powers the device on the copper side with IEEE 802.3at PoE+, so a camera, access point or phone can sit at the end of a fiber run.

About the Lantronix SGPAT Series
The SGPAT Series (part numbers such as SGPAT1040-105, also searched as SGPAT 1040) solves a common problem in fiber-to-the-edge designs: the powered device is beyond the 100 m copper limit and there is no PoE switch nearby. The converter is a PSE. It combines data arriving over fiber with its 56 VDC input to deliver both power and data over twisted pair to a PD, in compliance with IEEE 802.3af and 802.3at.
Fixed-optic models use 1000Base-SX 850 nm multimode on SC or LC connectors, reaching 220 m on 62.5/125 µm and 550 m on 50/125 µm fiber. Open-SFP models accept 100Base-FX, 1000Base-X or SGMII MSA SFP modules for single-mode or longer links. Each RJ-45 port supplies a full 30 W. The 3-port model can run as a switch or as a converter with redundant fiber and 50 ms failover; the 4-port model can act as a switch or as two independent PoE+ converters in one housing.
Active Link Pass Through propagates a fiber or copper link loss to the end devices, and Auto Power Reset power-cycles the PD when the link returns. DIP switches set the basics, while an RJ-45 serial CLI at 115200 baud exposes advanced port settings. The 82 x 122 x 25 mm unit mounts on a wall, DIN rail or tabletop and includes an external AC/DC adapter.

- Active Link Pass Through reports loss of signal on either port to the end devices, and Auto Power Reset reboots the PD after recovery.
- Flexible SFP slots
- Open SFP slots take 100Base-FX, 1000Base-X or SGMII MSA modules, so the same converter works on multimode or single-mode plant.
How to choose the right SGPAT Series part number
Pick by optics and port count. SGPAT1013-105 (SC) and SGPAT1039-105 (LC) have fixed 1000Base-SX 850 nm multimode optics for up to 550 m, with link budgets of 8.5 dB and 8.0 dB. SGPAT1040-105 has one PoE+ RJ-45 and one open 100/1000 SFP slot for any distance your SFP supports. SGPAT1040-205 adds a second SFP slot for redundant fiber or 3-port switching. SGPAT1040-305 has two PoE+ RJ-45 ports and two SFP slots. Mount with WMBL wall brackets, WMBD DIN-rail brackets or the RMS19-SA4-02 shelf.

How much PoE power does the SGPAT media converter provide?
Each RJ-45 port supplies the full 30 W of IEEE 802.3at PoE+, and the converter is also 802.3af compliant. With both PoE ports at 30 W, the 56 VDC input draws 1.17 A, or 65.5 W.
What fiber distance does the SGPAT support?
Fixed SX models reach 220 m on 62.5/125 µm and 550 m on 50/125 µm multimode fiber at 850 nm. Open-SFP models reach whatever distance the installed 100Base-FX or 1000Base-X SFP supports.
Which SFP modules work in the SGPAT open SFP slots?
The SFP slots support 100Base-FX, 1000Base-X or SGMII-based MSA-compliant SFP modules. DIP switches 1 and 2 set each SFP slot to 100/1000 or SGMII mode.
Can the SGPAT provide redundant fiber links?
Yes. The 3-port SGPAT1040-205 can act as a 2-port media converter with redundant fiber links and 50 ms failover. The 4-port SGPAT1040-305 also supports redundant fiber when configured as a switch. DIP switches select redundant and revertive modes.
Does the SGPAT need an external power supply?
Yes. It runs from an included external AC/DC 56 VDC power adapter, which is UL listed. The converter operates from 0°C to +45°C and mounts on a wall, DIN rail or tabletop.
