Lantronix SISTG-211 Series Hardened Gigabit Ethernet Media Converters
The SISTG-211 Series are unmanaged, hardened Gigabit media converters that link a 10/100/1000Base-T copper port to fixed SC multimode or single-mode fiber, or to an SFP slot, in a DIN-rail housing rated -40 °C to +75 °C.

Overview
About the Lantronix SISTG-211 Series
The SISTG-211 Series (part numbers SISTG10xx-211-LRT-B) extends Ethernet over fiber in environments that call for hardened equipment: oil and gas sites, manufacturing plants, chemical facilities and outdoor cabinets. It carries UL Class 1 Division 2 certification for hazardous locations, operates from -40 °C to +75 °C and accepts dual redundant 12-48 VDC power inputs, so a single power source failure does not drop the link.
The copper port runs 10/100/1000 Mbps with auto-negotiation and auto-MDI/MDIX. Fixed-optic versions use SC connectors: 1000Base-SX at 850 nm reaches 220 m on 62.5/125 µm and 550 m on 50/125 µm multimode fiber, and 1000Base-LX at 1310 nm reaches 10 km on single-mode fiber. The SFP version accepts 100 or 1000 Mbps modules. DIP switches set auto-negotiation or forced Gigabit on each port and enable Link Pass Through, and 9K jumbo frames are supported.
The IP30 housing is 30 mm wide, draws 3.4 W maximum, includes DIN-rail brackets and has reverse-polarity and overload protection on the power inputs. Shock, vibration and free-fall testing are listed among its certifications, and Lantronix publishes MTBF figures above 1.6 million hours at 25 °C for all three models, falling to roughly 250,000 hours at 75 °C.
Key capabilities
- Class 1 Division 2
- UL Class 1 Division 2 certification allows installation in hazardous locations such as oil and gas, manufacturing and chemical plants.
- Dual 12-48 VDC inputs
- Redundant power inputs with reverse polarity and overload protection accept a wide 12-48 VDC range, easing integration with existing field power.
- Extreme temperature rating
- Operates across -40 °C to +75 °C at 5-95% humidity in an IP30 housing, for unconditioned cabinets and plant floors.
- Fixed SC or SFP
- Choose fixed SC multimode or single-mode optics, or an empty SFP slot that accepts 100 or 1000 Mbps modules.
- Narrow DIN-rail housing
- At 30 mm wide with DIN-rail brackets included, the converter fits tightly packed industrial control panels.
How to choose the right SISTG-211 Series part number
The three part numbers share the hardened housing, power and copper port and differ in the fiber interface. SISTG1013-211-LRT-B is 1000Base-SX 850 nm multimode with SC connectors, 220 m on 62.5/125 µm or 550 m on 50/125 µm, with an 8.5 dB link budget. SISTG1014-211-LRT-B is 1000Base-LX 1310 nm single-mode SC to 10 km with a 10.5 dB budget. SISTG1040-211-LRT-B has an empty 100/1000Base-X SFP slot for a module matched to your fiber and distance.

SISTG-211 Series FAQ
Is the SISTG-211 certified for hazardous locations?
Yes. The SISTG-211 Series carries UL Class 1 Division 2 certification for hazardous locations such as oil and gas, manufacturing and the chemical industry. It also lists FCC Class A, CE Mark, EN61000-4 immunity and IEC 60068 shock, vibration and free-fall testing.
What power input does the SISTG-211 need?
It accepts 12 to 48 VDC at 0.2-0.5 A on dual redundant inputs with reverse polarity and overload protection, and draws 3.4 W maximum. Lantronix lists the SPS-UA12DHT 12 VDC adapter and the 25135 24 VDC DIN-rail supply as compatible.
Does the SISTG1040-211-LRT-B support 100 Mbps SFPs?
Yes. The SFP slot on the SISTG1040-211-LRT-B supports 100/1000Base-X, so it accepts 100 Mbps or Gigabit SFP modules. A DIP switch selects auto-negotiation or forced Gigabit speed for the SFP port.
What is the operating temperature of the SISTG-211 Series?
All models operate from -40 °C to +75 °C and can be stored from -40 °C to 85 °C, at 5% to 95% non-condensing humidity and up to 10,000 ft altitude.
