About the Lantronix ION219 Chassis
The ION219 (also written ION 219) concentrates up to nineteen ION slide-in modules in one shelf, so a carrier or enterprise can terminate many fiber-to-copper conversion points in a single managed location. Lantronix positions it for carrier-class and enterprise networks where many points of fiber integration need secure management. Modules can pair with modules in another ION chassis or with Lantronix stand-alone converters at the far end of each link.
Power supply modules install in two rear bays, keeping the front panel free for all nineteen slots. Supplies are available for 100-240 VAC or -48 VDC, the common telecom plant voltage. A single supply runs the chassis and every module, with 12 VDC output rated at 200 W and up to +12 VDC per slot; adding a second supply provides instant failover. The chassis consumes up to 150 W, measures 17 x 15.8 x 3.5 inches, weighs 19 lbs and operates from 0°C to 50°C.
With an ION Management Module installed, administrators configure, monitor and troubleshoot every card over web, telnet or local CLI, or SNMP using public MIBs, with management VLAN, SSL, SSH and IEEE 802.1X controlling access. Lantronix cites TELUS and Iron Mountain as deployments of its ION platform and media converter chassis.

How to choose the right ION219 Chassis part number
ION219-A includes one AC power supply and ION219-D one DC (-48 VDC) supply; neither includes management. ION219-AAMB is the fully equipped build with two AC supplies for redundancy and an ION Management Module. To add redundancy or management later, order IONPS-A-R1 (AC) or IONPS-D-R1 (-48 VDC) and an IONMM (USB Type B CLI port) or IONMM-232 (RS-232 RJ-45 CLI port). IONRE-23 rack ears and IONFP face plates for empty slots are also listed.
