The SGETF Series are stand-alone Layer 1 media converters that join 1000Base-T copper to 1000Base-SX or 1000Base-LX fiber, with a six-position DIP switch for remote fault detection, pause, link pass-through and loopback.

About the Lantronix SGETF Series
The SGETF Series (part numbers SGETF10xx-110) brings fiber into a Gigabit copper network without adding a switch. Operating at Layer 1, it passes data through at line speed with no store-and-forward delay, which suits latency-sensitive links. Typical jobs include extending a switch port past the 100 m copper limit, running Gigabit to a desk or remote closet over fiber, and crossing electrically noisy areas where copper is unreliable.
Fiber options are 1000Base-SX at 850 nm over multimode, reaching 220 m on 62.5/125 µm and 550 m on 50/125 µm fiber, and 1000Base-LX at 1310 nm over single-mode to 10 km. A six-position DIP switch sets Remote Fiber Fault Detect, symmetric or asymmetric pause, Transparent Link Pass Through, fiber auto-negotiation and loopback for testing. Copper ports support auto-MDI/MDIX, and five LEDs show power plus link and receive activity on each side.
Each converter is 82.55 mm wide and runs from an external 12 VDC supply rated at least 0.8 A, drawing 5.4 W, and operates from 0 °C to 50 °C. Mounting choices range from wall and DIN-rail brackets to the RMS19-SA4-02 4-slot shelf and the E-MCR-05 12-slot rack, so a few converters or a closet full of them can be organized cleanly.

How to choose the right SGETF Series part number
Choose by fiber type and connector. SGETF1013-110 is 1000Base-SX 850 nm multimode with SC connectors and a 7.0 dB link budget. SGETF1039-110 is the multimode version with LC connectors, delivered through an installed TN-SFP-SX module, with an 8.0 dB budget. Both reach 220 m on 62.5/125 µm and 550 m on 50/125 µm fiber. SGETF1014-110 is 1000Base-LX 1310 nm single-mode SC to 10 km with a 10.5 dB budget. SGETF1040-110 has an empty SFP slot for a separately ordered module.

SGETF Series FAQ
What distance does the SGETF media converter support?
Multimode SX models reach 220 m over 62.5/125 µm fiber and 550 m over 50/125 µm fiber. The single-mode SGETF1014-110 reaches 10 km at 1310 nm. The copper side supports 100 m, and the SFP model's reach depends on the module you install.
What does Transparent Link Pass Through do on the SGETF?
When enabled with DIP switch SW4, a link loss on one side of the converter is passed to the other side, so the attached switch or NIC sees the link drop and redundancy mechanisms can react rather than sending traffic into a dead fiber link.
What power supply does the SGETF Series require?
It needs an external AC/DC supply with 12 VDC output at 0.8 A minimum, from 120-240 VAC input. Consumption is 5.4 W, or 450 mA at 12 VDC. The SPS-2460-SA and SPS-2460-PS are listed as compatible power supplies.
What is the difference between SGETF1013-110 and SGETF1039-110?
Both are 1000Base-SX 850 nm multimode converters with the same 220 m and 550 m distances. SGETF1013-110 uses SC connectors with a 7.0 dB link budget, while SGETF1039-110 uses LC connectors via a TN-SFP-SX module with an 8.0 dB budget.
