About the Lantronix TN-QSFP-40G Series
TN-QSFP-40G modules (also written TN QSFP 40G) plug into any QSFP+ port to provide 40GBase-X optical interfaces for 40G Ethernet, 10G Ethernet and data center aggregation links. They comply with the SFF-8436 QSFP+ MSA and IEEE 802.3ba, run from a single 3.3 V supply and carry up to 44.4 Gbps per module. Lantronix describes them as Cisco compliant.
Five optical designs cover different plant. The SR4 drives four parallel lanes of up to 11.1 Gbps over an MPO connector on multimode fiber. The SR-BD sends two 20 Gbps bidirectional channels at 850 to 900 nm over a duplex LC multimode pair, so existing 10G duplex cabling can carry 40G. The IR4, LR4 and LR4-3 multiplex four CWDM wavelengths (1271, 1291, 1311 and 1331 nm) onto duplex LC single-mode fiber at up to 11.1 Gbps each, reaching 2 km, 10 km and 30 km.
Power dissipation is under 1.5 W for the SR4 and under 3.5 W for the others. All modules operate from 0°C to +70°C and are Class 1 laser products under IEC 60825-1 and FDA CDRH 21-CFR 1040.10. The SR4, LR4 and LR4-3 are TAA compliant.

How to choose the right TN-QSFP-40G Series part number
Match the module to your fiber and distance. TN-QSFP-40G-SR4 is 850 nm multimode with an MPO connector, 400 m on OM4 or 300 m on OM3. TN-QSFP-40G-SR-BD uses duplex LC multimode at 850/900 nm for 150 m on OM4 or 100 m on OM3, without DMI. For single-mode duplex LC, TN-QSFP-40G-IR4 reaches 2 km, TN-QSFP-40G-LR4 10 km and TN-QSFP-40G-LR4-3 30 km. SR4, LR4 and LR4-3 are TAA compliant. Remember that both ends of a link need the same module type.
