About the Lantronix SGFEB Series
The SGFEB Series (SGFEB1040, SGFEB1013 and related models) converts a copper Ethernet port into a fiber link so a switch, camera or desktop can reach beyond the 100 m copper limit. Because the RJ-45 port runs at 10, 100 or 1000 Mbps while the fiber side runs at 1000 Mbps, it also acts as a rate converter: a 10 or 100 Mbps device can connect to a Gigabit fiber backbone. Lantronix also positions it for fiber-to-the-desk deployments.
Fixed-optic models cover 850 nm multimode to 550 m on 50/125 um fiber, 1310 nm extended multimode to 2 km on 62.5/125 um fiber, and 1310 nm single-mode to 10 km, on SC or LC connectors. SFP models leave the slot empty for any 100 or 1000 Mbps SFP, including long-haul optics, and also support SGMII. The converters handle 10,260-byte jumbo frames, an 8K MAC table and IEEE 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet, drawing 2.2 W from 7.5-24 VDC.
Link Pass Through, Far End Fault and Remote Fault Detect pass a fiber or copper failure to the attached equipment so it can react. DIP switches set auto-negotiation, forced speed and duplex, and the SFP rate. Multiport models add a 3- or 4-port switch function or fiber redundancy with revertive mode.

- Link Pass Through, Far End Fault and Remote Fault Detect report a broken link to the devices at both ends instead of failing silently.
- 2.2 W, 7.5-24 VDC
- Each converter draws 2.2 W and is powered by a wide-input AC wall adapter, in a 3.25 x 4.8 x 1 inch housing.
How to choose the right SGFEB Series part number
Pick by fiber type, connector and port count. SGFEB1013-130 (SC) and SGFEB1039-130 (LC) are 850 nm multimode, 220 m on 62.5/125 um or 550 m on 50/125 um. SGFEB1024-130 is 1310 nm extended multimode to 2 km on 62.5/125 um only. SGFEB1014-130 (SC) and SGFEB1019-130 (LC) are 1310 nm single-mode to 10 km. SGFEB1040-130 has one empty SFP slot; SGFEB1040-230 adds a second SFP slot and SGFEB1040-330 has two RJ-45 plus two SFP ports. Mounting options include the WMBD DIN-rail bracket, the RMS19-SA4-02 4-slot shelf and the E-MCR-05 12-slot rack.

How far can the SGFEB media converter transmit?
With fixed optics: 220 m on 62.5/125 um or 550 m on 50/125 um multimode at 850 nm, 2 km on 62.5/125 um extended multimode at 1310 nm, and 10 km on single-mode at 1310 nm. SFP models reach whatever distance the installed SFP module supports.
Can the SGFEB connect a 100 Mbps device to Gigabit fiber?
Yes. The RJ-45 port runs at 10, 100 or 1000 Mbps with auto-negotiation, while the fiber runs at 1000 Mbps, so the converter performs rate conversion. The SFP versions can also run the fiber port at 100 Mbps.
What is the difference between SGFEB1040-130, -230 and -330?
All use empty SFP slots. The -130 has one RJ-45 and one SFP port. The -230 has one RJ-45 and two SFP ports. The -330 has two RJ-45 and two SFP ports. The multiport models act as a small switch or provide redundant fiber links.
Are SFP modules included with SGFEB1040 models?
No. The SFP slots ship empty and accept 100/1000Base-X modules, so you choose multimode, single-mode or long-haul optics to suit the fiber run. SFP modules are listed as compatible accessories.
What is the SGFEB operating temperature and power input?
0°C to 50°C operating, -15°C to 65°C storage, 5% to 95% non-condensing humidity, up to 10,000 ft. Power is 7.5-24 VDC from a wide-input AC wall adapter, with 2.2 W consumption.
