The SPOEB Series are stand-alone Fast Ethernet media converters that bring a fiber link to a remote powered device and supply IEEE 802.3af PoE on the copper port, so one box delivers both data and power.

About the Lantronix SPOEB Series
The SPOEB Series (part numbers such as SPOEB1013, also written SPOEB 1013) solves a common edge problem: a powered device such as an IP camera sits beyond copper distance from the switch, but still needs PoE. The converter terminates a 100Base-FX fiber link, combines the data with 48 VDC power from its external AC supply, and acts as IEEE 802.3af power sourcing equipment (PSE) on a 10/100 RJ-45 port over the existing Cat5 cable.
PoE functions include PD signature detection, power monitoring, over-current protection, under-current detection, minimum load sensing and a fault protection input, with power inserted on either the data pairs or the spare pairs. With the PSE/LPT switch enabled, a loss of fiber RX cuts PoE output for 2 seconds so the remote device re-initializes, a feature Lantronix calls Powered Device Reset. Eight DIP switches set auto-negotiation, forced speed and duplex, Link Pass Through and PSE on or off.
Link Pass Through, Far-End Fault and automatic link restoration carry fiber faults through to the copper side so upstream equipment sees the failure. LEDs report power, fiber and copper link, activity, speed and duplex, and PoE status. The converters draw up to 20 W, support 1600-byte frames and operate from 0 to 50 C.

- Power can be inserted on the data pairs or the spare pairs of the MDI, matching the requirements of different powered devices.
- DIP-switch configuration
- Hardware switches set auto-negotiation, forced 10 or 100 Mbps, copper and fiber duplex, Link Pass Through and PSE output without software.
How to choose the right SPOEB Series part number
All SPOEB models share the same 10/100Base-TX PoE copper port and 802.3af PSE features; they differ only in the fiber side. SPOEB1011-105 uses ST connectors, SPOEB1013-105 uses SC and SPOEB1039-105 uses LC, all 100Base-FX on 1300 nm multimode with an 11.0 dB link budget and 2 km reach. SPOEB1040-105 has an empty 100Base-X SFP slot, so the installed SFP sets fiber mode, wavelength and distance. Match the connector to the patch panel or the far-end converter.

What PoE standard does the SPOEB media converter support?
